Functional Medicine

What is Functional Medicine

Functional Diagnostic Medicine is a patient focused approach to medicine, rather than disease focused.  The difference is we start by looking into the individual for weaknesses and imbalances in physiology to try to understand why they developed the disease or illness.  WE will discover and correct the underlying cause of the disease process or dysfunction, so that the body can return to a state of health and wellness.

It is the early detection of disease and dysfunction that separates Functional Medicine from dysfunctional traditional medicine.  Our approach is to use a focused discussion of medical history and symptoms along with a functionally oriented physical exam.  We us in-office blood chemistry and CBC (complete blood count) testing.  We may utilize advanced, cutting-edge analysis techniques that will look deeper into the patient's digestion, liver detoxification, hormones, micronutrient, and immune systems to identify the underlying cause of one's disease or illness.

Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life by improving the quality of health care.  Functional Medicine not only reduces health care costs, but more importantly, patient suffering.  Functional Medicine increases the likelihood of a cure for illnesses.  Functional Medicine not only reduces morbidity and mortality, but will provide the patient with answers to why they still may feel awful despite traditional medical treatments.
